Book: Trevor Corser
Tyas, M. (Ed.), 2016. Trevor Corser: His Life & Work. The Leach Pottery, St Ives.
As editor of this book, this is the second publication in the Leach Pottery Insights Series. It provides a delightful insight into the life and work of Trevor Corser, a potter who remained at the Leach Pottery for 40 years, after arriving in the late 1960s.
It begins with two short essays by Trevor’s friends – American potters Clary Illian and Jeff Oestreich, who were training at the Pottery at the time that Trevor started working there. A more detailed portrait is then provided by John Bedding, who not only trained with Trevor but also remained in St Ives and became his close friend. This is followed by Professor Simon Olding’s essay which charts Trevor’s career at the Pottery, his influences, and his approach to pottery. The book is illustrated with pictures of Trevor and his work from across the years.
