This focus of my doctoral research began after observing Leach Pottery Apprentice Potters using callipers to gauge the Leach Tableware they were throwing. I investigated how bespoke digitally manufactured tools could support and enhance Leach Tableware production by increasing accuracy while continuing to facilitate the potters’ judgement as a maker. I subsequently developed bespoke measuring tools and throwing ribs for several of the bowls and new methods of handle making for the mugs.
