New Pots: 2017
Here’s a selection of pots from 2017 – these are from the October firing. I’ve been working on glazes and clay for the most part of the year. For example, the chawan, or tea bowl, with black glaze shows how I have been layering glazes to interact with one another in the kiln – giving something of an unpredictable outcome. The tenmoku glaze produces a strong black and you can see where it has combined with the glaze beneath to create movement and bring the white chun in the surface. Towards the rim, it is almost acting like a clear glaze before it becomes more like chun and then black.
