In January 2016 I undertook a talk at the Wheal Martyn China Clay Museum on ‘Understanding and Identifying Cornish Ceramics’. This talk was convened by the Cornwall Visual Arts Subject Specialist Network. In the talk I provided an overview of the Leach Pottery’s rich history including some of its main protagonists and the pots they made. The talk was supported by detailed PowerPoint slides and examples of raw materials, pottery shards, and finished ware. Participants and museums were also asked to bring examples from their own collections – as part of that activity I helped identify an interesting Verwood Pottery Costrel.
